Joint Planning Commission and City Council Work Session

City Council and Planning Commission will hold a Joint Work Session on Tuesday, May 25th to discuss the Draft Transportation System Plan (TSP) Update. The Draft TSP Update and Draft Implementing Ordinances are available under Project Documents. The meeting will include a brief presentation by the project consultants followed by a discussion with the Planning Commission and City Council on elements of the plan. The meeting is open to the public.
Joint TAC and CAC Meeting #4

The Joint Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting #4 for the Independence Transportation System Plan (TSP) update will occur on Thursday, May 20th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on the project and discuss the Draft TSP Update and Draft Implementing Ordinances. The meeting will include a brief presentation, followed by group discussion. The Draft TSP Update and Draft Implementing Ordinances are available under Project Documents. Please review the documents prior to the meeting and provide feedback at the meeting or to the City by Friday, May 28th.
YouTube Live Event #2

In conjunction with the virtual Open House #3 (Casa Abierta #3), the City will be hosting a YouTube Live Event on Wednesday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM to give the community an opportunity to provide input on the preferred alternatives directly to the project team. Online Open House #3 - Open from February 22nd - March 8th!

Open House #3 for the Independence Transportation System Plan (TSP) update will occur from Monday, February 22nd to Monday, March 8th on the project website www.independencetsp.com. The open house will include a series of interactive maps that identify the preferred alternatives to address gaps and deficiencies in the transportation system and will allow participants the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas. Please visit the project website to participate in the open house and help to shape the transportation system over the next 20 years!
An in-person open house will not be held due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, the City is planning to host a YouTube Live Event on Wednesday, March 3rd to give the community an opportunity to provide input on the preferred alternatives directly to the project team. The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting #3 for the Independence Transportation System Plan (TSP) update will occur on Thursday, February 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The meeting will be held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on the project and discuss key goals of Draft Tech Memo #6: Preferred Alternatives. The meeting will include a brief presentation, followed by a discussion of the key goals and other elements of the memo as feasible. Draft Tech Memo #6: Preferred Alternatives will be available under Project Documents on or before February 11th. Please review the memo prior to the meeting and provide feedback at the meeting or to the City by Friday, February 26th.

The City hosted a Youtube Live Event on December 2nd to give the community an opportunity to provide additional feedback on the alternatives developed to address a few key transportation issues, including:

Online Open House #2 - Open from August 24th - September 7th!

Open House #2 for the Independence Transportation System Plan (TSP) update will be held online from August 24th through September 7th via the project website (www.independencetsp.com). An in-person open house will not be held due to COVID-19 restrictions. Open House #2 will provide information on projected future traffic conditions within the City and discuss potential improvements to the transportation system. Please visit the website to participate in the open house and help shape the transportation system over the next 20 years!

The City would like your input on the TSP update and will host three open houses throughout the duration of the project. Due to recent and ongoing events, the first open house will be held online only. The project team will revisit the ability to hold future in-person open houses in the coming months.
Online Open House #1 will focus on goals and objectives of the TSP, existing transportation system conditions, and transportation system gaps and deficiencies in Independence.
